I had a pleasure to collaborate with Noland on my last editorial “Reconnecting”, his product is fully sustainable and biodegradable. The feel of glasses is luxury and modern. During our LIVE interview Joan – the founder of the brand has disclosed to me some details of his conscious journey.
What extreme situations lead us to create ecological and sustainable awareness?
To Joan it started on a vacation in Southeast Asia. When he got there, he found seas full of plastic and waste. The shock was such that he could no longer remain indifferent from that moment.
He began to wonder what actions could help reduce pollution. Undoubtedly use of recyclable and biodegradable material. What could he use this material for? The answer came quickly: To create eco-friendly eyewear.
This way, Nolands was born. The challenge was high as creating sunglasses with organic and sustainable, plastic-free materials was very tricky, but not impossible.
The frames are made from a polymer derived from 100% plant-based, biodegradable cellulose. The polarized lenses are created with the same technology than Barberini lenses, and their color is enhanced by pure minerals. Designed in Barcelona, assembled hand-made in Italy. Nolands has high-quality standards. Before finalizing their final form, all pairs of glasses go through at least sixty manual verification processes! Both the product and the packaging are produced in a sustainable and ethical way in Europe.
