LA VOUGA

What would you say if you knew that there is a virtual place where the best local sustainable artisans were gathered to make your responsible shopping much easier?

Let me tell you something, that place exists, it's called La Vouga.

I met Aanshi, founder of La Vouga in lovely atelier of one of her designers Roberta Modena. She showed me around explaining local providence of eco fabrics from Roberta, the brand that is a great fit for La Vouga’s purpose: support local brands that are making efforts toward sustainability, by promoting them in the local and international environment.

For sure it is true that making something local international is not that much sustainable, however the products are locally created and so they are making only one travel from the workshop to the client hands. Aanshi in future is planning to collaborate with local sustainable brands from different countries to give her clients opportunity to get to know their local brands and support them. I would risk a statement that La Vouga can be a future amazon of ethic and sustainable fashion.

Aanshi defines herself as an ex-fast fashion shopper, who over time became more aware of consumption and began to wonder what was really necessary and how much impact we have as consumers. Coming from India, she is also aware of this industry working conditions. These elements putted together made her realized that it was time to think differently.

Although we know that nothing can be 100% sustainable, together we are taking small steps and getting closer to a better planet...

What I do appreciate about La Vouga?

They gathered together brands previously reviewed in terms of their production, used materials, quality, work conditions, to help the consumer make ethical choices. I think all of you agree that today it is still hard to buy real sustainable products, as green washing is a current practice in fashion industry.

La Vouga is steadfast in their goal when it comes to eco-awareness. You can enter the platform and choose the products you want, products that were previously reviewed by the La Vouga team in relation to their legitimacy and quality, You can find there between others the brands “Roberta Modena”, "Colmillo de Morsa", " Loidi", "Juanma by El Cuco", "Claudia Carabajal", “Bonenfant Atelier”,  “Working in the Red Woods” and many more.

It's about the purpose, but it's also about the story behind it. Each piece has its personal history and that is why it is unique, because it was consciously made by a artisan, a human person with human feelings.

Thank you La Vouga for your time and for sharing with us meaningful ideas.

ROBERTA MODENA

As mentioned before our interview host was the atelier of Roberta Modena who is an Italian designer living in Barcelona. Her production is one 100% local because materials come from a local organic cotton farm, that means not only supporting the locals but also reducing pollution through transportation, which is why she chooses accessible materials and one curious thing is that she also makes sure to recycle even the papers where she designs and makes the sketch. The production as we could see is made in small quantities right there in Born located workshop in front of our eyes. Check them out on Instagram!

I invite you to see our LIVEs on IG!
